07 Nov WE SHALL NOT SLEEP, THOUGH POPPIES GROW: DEVELOPER CELEBRATES REMEMBRANCE DAY IN ESSEX
Leading developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes is remembering the country’s fallen heroes this Armistice Day with the latest installation at its developments in Essex.
The housebuilder has attached large poppies to the lampposts at Great Dunmow Grange in Great Dunmow, High Elms Park in Hullbridge, Mortimer Place in Hatfield Peverel, and Riverside Grange in Fambridge, to mark the annual tribute to all those who lost their lives during the wars.
In 2022, the Royal British Legion is remembering and commemorating military and civilian service.
Residents and visitors to the new communities are encouraged to walk past the poppies and think about all those who served in conflicts across the world ahead of Remembrance Day on Friday 11th November.
Tom Wright, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said: “We have decorated our developments with poppies to honour the occasion as a tribute to all those who lost their lives in conflict.
“During this time of remembrance, we’re encouraging residents of Essex to take in the poppies onsite when walking by and take a moment of quiet reflection.”
In 2021, Barratt and David Wilson Homes showed its support for the RBLI by installing Tommy Club figures as part of VE Day. This year, a number of Women in War figures were incorporated to highlight the efforts of women – both in military and civilian occupations – during times of conflict.
The Royal British Legion has over 40,000 volunteers across the UK, all collecting donations towards the Poppy Appeal.
