26 Sep Two officers from #Chelmsford helped to negotiate with a man who was seriously ill
On September 21, Chelmsford officers Police Constable Graham Thomas and Police Sergeant Jonathan Loudon were called by the Ambulance Service to assist with negotiations with a man in Chelmsford. The man was seriously ill and was refusing to go with the ambulance crew to get the urgent medical attention that he needed.
Graham and Jonathan arrived at the scene and began engaging with him.
With time against them, the officers knew that they needed to act quickly and after calmly negotiating with the man, they were able to persuade him to go with the ambulance crew for the urgent care.
Graham said: “Incidents like this can often be very challenging but it’s important that we try to remain calm and persistent to help people involved in order to get them the help they need.”
