06 Aug Thousands raised for Stroke Unit at Southend University Hospital
Southend Hospital Charity and Sainsbury’s Local in Rayleigh have just completed a two year charity partnership to raise £5,870.94 for the Stroke Unit at Southend University Hospital.
To raise this money, staff at the Rayleigh store held monthly competitions, raffles and collections. A member of Sainsbury’s staff; Kevin Perryer, successfully completed the RideLondon 100 mile cycle challenge last year, contributing £785 to the total raised.
Th e team at Sainsbury’s also kitted out the unit with fans and radios to help improve the time that patients spend in hospital. In addition, Sainsbury’s customers donated toiletries for over-night patients and activity books to aid patient recovery.
