27 Jun @SUFCRootsHall confirm signing of right back Jason Demetriou
Southend United are pleased to announce the signing of Jason Demetriou on a two-year contract on July 1 following passing a medical on Monday 27 June.
The right back, who is a Cypriot international made 53 appearances for Walsall last season as the Saddlers fought for automatic promotion in Sky Bet League One before settling for a play-off spot.
The 28-year old will officially join the Blues on July 1 once his current contract at Walsall expires.
And Demetriou stated the promising future of the club was a key factor in him coming to Roots Hall.
“When the offer came about it perked my ears up.” He said.
“I can see the potential of the club and it’s going places, the manager has a good vision for the team, so it in the end there was a lot of boxes ticked for me.
“I’m really looking forward to getting started now, we’ve got a good squad here and I think we’ll be up there this season.
“It’s a great feeling to be involved in the play-offs, but I’m hoping this season with a new club we can go one better and we can get automatic promotion.”
