13 Sep Simply raises over £2,400 for local Quilters junior school
On Sunday 8 September, seven members of the Simply team and some family members took part in John Baron MP’s annual Fun Walk to raise over £2,400 for Billericay based Quilters Junior School.
This total will be topped up by The Fun Walk and the total will be confirmed towards the end of 2019. Last year, for every £100 donated to a charity or cause, The Fun Walk donated £65 to the fundraising campaigns. They will be matching this with a similar figure for this year’s event.
Ruth Napp, Managing Director of Simply, walked the hour long trail alongside the Simply and Quilters team, in memory of her sister Sarah Cobb. Sarah was a beloved Quilters Junior School teacher who passed away in 2013. The school has since cre-ated ‘Sarah’s Garden’ – a beautiful space within the school that was created in memory of Sarah.
The money raised will allow every schoolchild to spend one afternoon per year in the garden, where they can spend time gardening, participating in arts and crafts or spending time remembering Sarah and their loved ones.
Ruth Napp, Managing Director of Simply comments: “Raising over £2,400 for Sa-rah’s Garden at Quilters Junior School is amazing and something that both myself and the team are really pleased with. These funds will help Sarah’s legacy live on through the staff and pupils of the school and I am extremely proud of the Simply team who walked alongside me to help make this possible. I’d also like to say a huge thank you to every single person who sponsored us in the Fun Walk.”
Michael Wade, Head Teacher of Quilters Junior School adds: “We are over the moon with the outstanding amount of money raised for the school thanks to the Simply team and everybody who sponsored them. This money will all go towards our pupils being able to enjoy being outdoors in Sarah’s garden, learning new gardening skills and reflecting.”
