11 May Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board CEO announces retirement plan
Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB) Chief Executive Anthony “Mac” McKeever has announced his intention to retire by the end of the year following a 48 year career in the health service.
Anthony “Mac” McKeever joined the mid and south Essex health and care system as interim system lead in 2020, just as COVID struck. He then applied to become the permanent CEO to support recovery from the pandemic and help launch the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB) in July 2022.
ICB Chair Professor Michael Thorne CBE said: “Under Mac’s leadership we have successfully set up the Integrated Care Board and have laid the foundations for genuine partnership working across our system. I want to thank him for his determination and hard work which has brought us so far. I have personally enjoyed working with Mac in every way and have benefited hugely from his years of experience in the health service. I wish him the very best for a well-earned retirement when it comes.
Mac will remain in post to ensure a smooth transition whilst the integrated care board begin the process to recruit a new CEO.
