13 Jan Jack Johnson: ‘Transgender is one of them tough subjects’
By Jack Johnson
So there was a new documentary on BBC2 last night at 9pm, for the people who didn’t Tune in last night, the documentary was about young children Who was transgender.
Transgender is one of them tough subjects, where everybody in the world has different opinions. I really think documentaries like these are absolutely fantastic, because there will be children out there who will be watching the documentary & It’s showing other young people out there they are not alone, as you saw in last night’s documentary it’s not about just opening your mouth and telling everyone your trans! When you come out as transgender, it must be the scariest/worrying situation you will ever face!
Bearing in mind these are only children, so you can see how very hard it is for them. it’s not only hard on the children it’s very hard for the family’s has you could only imagine! They give birth to their child who they love dearly, and next moment your child tells you he or she wants to be the different sex.
There are some narrow minded people in this world, who believe transgender people should stay the same sex they was born with, which is absolutely nonsense! Being a gay male myself I always knew from a young age I was different to other children growing up, so it is totally the same with transgender people! But in my case I like the same sex, so it is kind of the same for transgender people but it is definitely harder for them coming out!
I really hope them narrow minded people who watched the documentary, have a different opinion about transgender people! It is deafly not a phase or trying to get attention! Instead of hateing and saying horrible comments at transgender people, you should support them & look up about transgender, because one day it could be your child.
People know that transgender people are at a higher risk of suicide, but why this risk is higher is often not understood by the public, or misused by people who wish us further harm. The statistic that 40% of transgender people have attempted suicide.
Transgender people who are rejected by their families or lack social support are much more likely to both consider suicide, and to attempt it. Conversely, those with strong support were 82% less likely to attempt suicide than those without support, according to one recent study. Another study showed that transgender youth whose parents reject their gender identity are 13 times more likely to attempt suicide than transgender youth who are supported by their parents.
