16 Nov INTU LAKESIDE SPREADS CHRISTMAS CHEER AT LOCAL CHILDREN’S CHARITY, BRAINWAVE
On Monday 14 November, intu Lakeside visited Witham based children’s charity, Brainwave, to spread some early Christmas cheer.
Brainwave is intu Lakeside’s 2016 charity and staff, customers and retailers have been fundraising with a variety of activities to raise an amazing £25,000. This money is changing the lives of seven local children that the centre has sponsored for the year. Fundraising activities include staff members taking part in sporting activities such as triathlons, an afternoon tea for the Queen’s birthday, a raffle at the retailer awards and much more.
Brainwave works with children aged 0-12 years using tailored therapy programs to help children reach their full potential. With a little help from Santa’s helpers, intu Lakeside found out some items that would help these children to progress in their development even further and surprised these little ones with the gifts.
Gerry Gould, Community Manager at Brainwave, comments: “We are extremely grateful for intu Lakeside’s generous £25,000 donation and delighted that everyone at the centre has been keen to get involved and raise funds for our charity. I speak on behalf of Brainwave as well as the families that intu Lakeside has supported when I say that this donation truly has changed lives and given these children a brighter future.”
intu Lakeside has sponsored the following children:
- Six-year-old Lily
- Five-year-old Harry
- Four-year-old Emilia
- Six-year-old Lily-May
- Seven-year-old Rosie
- One-year-old Ellie
- 12-month-old Kelly
All seven children come from Essex and Kent and have a wide range of conditions including; Down’s syndrome, global development delay, epilepsy, problems with sensory processing and rare genetic conditions that impact their development.
Ben Leeson, Marketing Manager at intu Lakeside, says: “The work that Brainwave does is inspiring and we are delighted to have helped this charity during 2016. Thanks to the generosity of intu, intu Lakeside’s staff and our wonderful customers and retailers, we have raised enough funds to sponsor seven local children’s therapy for a whole year.”
