28 Apr Inside The Fighting Essex Soldier book launch
The launch of the publication of The Fighting Essex Soldier, a collection of papers drawn from those given at an Essex Record Office conference in March 2014 will be launched next month.
The wars of the fourteenth-century English kings with France and Scotland resulted in a dramatic increase in the number of men involved in warfare on land and sea. This book draws upon new research to identify and analyse these soldiers at all social levels in the specific context of the county of Essex.
At the launch event, The book will be set into context with a talk by Dr Adam Chapman on Soldiers of the English Realm: Essex and beyond c.1300-c.1450.
