30 Mar Hospital Radio Chelmsford Wins Big At Prestigious Awards
Last week’s Hospital Broadcasting Association’s (H.B.A.) annual awards weekend saw Hospital Radio Chelmsford, Broomfield Hospital’s own radio station scoop a Gold and two Silver awards at the prestigious ceremony held in Bolton.
Making the trip up north with nominations in six categories, Hospital Radio Chelmsford was hoping for at least some Top 3 success. However, the station, which is run entirely by volunteers, now boasts the Best Female Presenter, Nita Jhummu, as well as two second place finishes for Best Specialist Music and for Station Promotion.
Nita’s lunchtime show on Saturdays entertains, informs and stays relevant to the patients listening. The Judges said that “…it’s clear Nita loves what she’s doing, connecting with her listeners – the patients….the word authentic was used – she was being herself and doing it brilliantly”.
Nita also produced and presented the “Eurovision Through The Years” show which won a silver award for the Best Specialist Music category.
In the Station Promotion category, there was a further silver award for Hospital Radio Chelmsford.
Station Manager, Paul Morrish, said “These wonderful results, with Nita’s Gold award being a highlight, confirms our dedication and commitment to providing a relevant, entertaining and worthwhile service to our listeners and their families in Broomfield Hospital and online. We are very proud of all our volunteers and these awards back up what we have known for some time; that Hospital Broadcasting has a special place in many people’s hearts and plays an important part in recovery. We are looking forward to another year of providing a unique service that we love and our listeners really appreciate.”
