14 Mar Harlow day centre users bowled over by day out
Leah Manning Centre service users were treated to a special outing to Harlow Bowl and a meal at a local restaurant on Thursday 7 March.
The trip was the first of its kind for the centre, thanks to the generosity of centre staff who held a boot sale in their free time and donated all the profits for the outing.
Service user Mrs M, said: “Never did anything like this before, reminds me of playing sand bowls on the beach when the kids were young.”
Another service user, Mrs B, stated: “What a lovely day out – Lunch at the Codfather followed by bowling. Not bad for a 92 year old!”
The Leah Manning Centre, opened in 1980 as a purpose-built modern day care centre, named after a former teacher and MP for Epping in the 1930s and 1940s.
The Centre is managed by Harlow Council, working in partnership with Essex County Council Adult Social Care, who fund the specialist day care for Harlow residents with a higher level of need.
