29 Oct Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby fires up its #ThisGirlCan campaign with Brentwood event
Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby (GBWR) has launched its #ThisGirlCan campaign to encourage more women wheelchair users into the sport. The event took place on 28thOctober 2018 at The Brentwood Centre, Essex CM15 9NN and was open to all.
Throughout the day there was time for socialising, wheelchair rugby taster sessions, and a choice to join in the competitive matches later in the day. There was also a chance to meet Paralympian -Kylie Grimes.
Julie Bunnage, National Development Manager, GBWR, comments ‘Events like this offer exciting opportunities for women to get active in a friendly and supportive environment and I hope that the chance to try it out in person will show people that Wheelchair Rugby is something that every girl can do.’
Participants were invited to bring a friend and take part in the day where they were introduced to the sport and discover more about the #ThisGirlCan campaign.
There was also the opportunity for participants to create their own posters using the #ThisGirlCan app and discuss what can be done to encourage more women to take up wheelchair rugby.
