21 Feb Essex firm Ellisons Solicitors continues its growth
Ellisons Solicitors has further accelerated its growth trajectory with the appointment of its first dedicated HR director, Lizzy Firmin.
Recognising the importance of the human resources function within the firm, Lizzy joins the firm’s Business Support Group team based at its headquarters in Colchester. She will also be a key member of Ellisons’ management board.
The law firm introduced the role at the start of this year to help develop and oversee its team of almost 250 employees. Lizzy will manage Ellisons’ HR function; delivering people management and wider business improvement solutions that have a real, positive impact on business performance.
Lizzy has over 15 years’ experience working at a senior leadership level in the private and public sector, spanning both HR and operational leadership. Prior to joining Ellisons, Lizzy spent two years working in professional services in a senior consultancy role with a range of businesses, and prior to that held HR leadership roles at the Border Force, Hutchison Ports and Trinity House.
To support Ellisons’ ongoing commitment to its highly-regarded team, Lizzy will focus on key areas such as talent and organisational development, diversity and inclusion, colleague benefits and performance management. This approach will underpin the firm’s ambitious business plan, ensuring commercial objectives are delivered, whilst attracting, retaining and nurturing the best talent throughout Essex and Suffolk.
Commenting on her appointment, Lizzy said: “My passion is making sure people are performing at their best and that HR strategy offers a tangible and real impact across an organisation. I very much look forward to working with Ellisons’ progressive and forward-thinking team, helping them to develop the career they want to create whilst working with the board to achieve our commercial objectives. It is a firm with an established good reputation, and I’m very excited to see what the future holds for Ellisons.”
In the past year Ellisons has expanded rapidly with the merger of Gross & Co., which saw the firm grow its services to include immigration law. The service extension was a key driver behind its merger to strengthen its ties with the international Alliott Group.
