Essex County Council is congratulating the county’s sixth form students after they received their A-Level results today.

More than 4,000 students took exams at Essex schools this year and initial data shows 76% per cent of the grades awarded were A*-C.

Essex pupils again exceeded the national average pass rate, with 98.3% per cent of all grades awarded A*- E, while over 23% per cent of students gained A*-A grades.

There was also similarly high success in vocational level 3 subjects, with 75% per cent of passes distinctions or better.

Overall, this year’s figures were in the same range as last year.

Cllr Ray Gooding, Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, said: “Sixth form students across Essex have studied very hard and I would like to congratulate everyone who picked up their results today.

“We are committed to ensuring young people in Essex receive the best possible education and I am pleased to see students have achieved another set of excellent results.

“Whatever their plans, I would like to wish them all the best of luck for the future.”
