31 May Din Tai Fung Centre Point to host UK-first tea ceremony
Din Tai Fung is delighted to announce that it will be hosting an intimate tea ceremony at its latest Centre Point location, set to take place on Tuesday 27 June. Hosted by Tea Master Juyan Webster from the Chinese Tea Company, the ceremony is the first of its kind at a UK restaurant, and tickets are now available to book exclusively through Din Tai Fung’s website.
Reflecting Din Tai Fung’s strong heritage, the ceremony will demonstrate the art of tea drinking and give guests an insight into the traditional Chinese ritual. Sessions will last for one hour, with Tea Master Juyan taking attendees through a tasting of three different teas: Oolong, Puerh and Din Tai Fung’s newly launched Golden Honey tea. Juyan will carefully guide guests through each of the teas’ tasting notes, as well as highlighting the benefits of each one for overall wellbeing. She will also explain how each tea is made and properly brewed, showcasing how tea is similar to wine in its nuances of flavour and texture, which are influenced by an individual tea’s growing process, season and terroir.
There will be two sessions available on the day, with a choice of either 4:45pm or 6:45pm, both inclusive of a tasting menu comprising a range of the brand’s cult favourite dishes as well as an additional cup of Golden Honey tea to enjoy with dessert. Tickets are available for purchase for £100 per person and are sold exclusively in pairs, with five pairs available at each of the sessions.
Taking place in The Gallery, the restaurant’s beautiful event space, guests will enjoy unparalleled views over Oxford Street as they make their way through the ceremony. Once they have completed the tasting, they will move to one of the restaurant’s two private dining rooms, where they will be treated to a delicious tasting menu in elegant surroundings.
