15 Feb Community project Harlow SOUP hits Crowdfunder target
Harlow SOUP, a micro-granting community event, has successfully gone above and beyond its Crowdfunder target of £500 to fund its first event on 22nd February at Phoenix Live in Harlow’s town centre.
The brand-new community event finished its Crowdfunder with an impressive £610, over £100 over the target, to kick-start the very first Harlow SOUP.
The event on the 22nd February will be open to attendees on a “pay what you like” basis and entrance includes a selection of homemade soups and breads, cakes and live music from local musicians.
Attendees will hear four candidates each pitch a community project idea for Harlow and will get the chance to vote for their favourite project. The chosen projects to pitch this time round are Public Piano, toilet refurbishment for Streets2Homes, mindfulness sessions at Livewire and wildlife habitats at Parndon Wood. Once votes have been counted, the winner will be announced and all of the money made on the door will be donated to the winning project.
The debut Harlow SOUP evening is the first in a series of Harlow SOUP events – and submissions for community projects will remain open on the group’s website to be considered for the next SOUP event on Thursday 24th May.
Winning projects will also be invited to attend the next event to speak about the success of their project and the benefits for Harlow.
