09 Apr Cllr Linda Huggett is inviting the local community to take part in a 100 minutes Danceathon

The Mayor of Redbridge, Councillor Linda Huggett and her Fundraising Appeal Committee are inviting the local community to take part in a 100 minutes Danceathon, to celebrate World Dance Day on Friday 20th April at Sir James Hawkey Hall, Broomhill Road, Woodford, Essex.

Proceeds from the ticket sales will go towards the Mayors chosen charities, Haven House Children’s Hospice and St Francis Hospice. The Mayors Fundraising Danceathon is being held as part of a series of events organized by the Power Of Creative Arts to help raise awareness of International Dance Day celebrated globally on 29th April.

Individuals and groups of all ages, all abilities and all cultural backgrounds, who enjoy dance, creative arts and supporting local talent development will find the event a great way to bring global dance to the local community.

Not only will the audience enjoy learning easy to follow routines and get a chance to sample different dance styles by a variety of professional instructors, but they will also be able to watch a spectacular showcase by dancers from Italia Conti and receive a Participation Award to add to their list of achievements. The jam packed fun evening will offer many other benefits which include being presented with Awards for the “Best Dance Wear”, “Most Enthusiastic Dancer” and “Most Funds Raised” for those who choose to raise additional funds by downloading a charity sponsorship form. The event will provide an opportunity for the local community to mingle with special guests and take photos with the Mayor, receive a chance to be interviewed by the media attending, help raise funds for worthwhile causes, and be part of an exciting global dance event.

Everyone can get involved! The local community may get involved by attending or sharing the opportunity with others, by including the event details in newsletters, school noticeboards, dance academy websites, social media sites or any method they prefer. Audience members may either come along to watch or join in the Danceathon. Tickets are £10 per entry and available from Eventbrite/world-dance-day-danceathon-2018 with any donations welcome, or contact the Mayors Fundraising Appeal Committee at [email protected] or 07712 516424 for further information.
