03 May CHELMSFORD WALKING FOOTBALL CLUB RECEIVES LIFE-SAVING EQUIPMENT
McCarthy Stone who are behind the Walter House and Retirement Living development on Rainsford Road, have funded a life-saving defibrillator for Chelmsford City Walking Football Club.
The newly donated Automated External Defibrillator will be easily accessible pitch-side and available within one to -two minutes should it be needed in the event of anyone entering cardiac arrest.
The donation from McCarthy Stone, who are also behind the local Miami House Retirement Living Plus development, will reduce the existing defibrillator access time by eight minutes. This huge improvement in the speed of deployment can be the difference between life and death. For every minute the heart stops, the brain is starved of oxygen and efficient use of a defibrillator can quickly restart the heart through applying a high energy electric shock.
Players at the Essex club will undergo training to become users of the new defibrillator. This will help them to feel prepared and build confidence should they encounter a real-life cardiac arrest. When switched on, the device will provide instructions to any user; however, having a basic level of training can help to speed up the process and ultimately save precious time.
Chris Jullings, Chairman of Chelmsford City Walking Football Club said: “CCWFC has 85 members aged between 52 and nearly 80. We train twice a week and compete in the Essex Walking Football League and national cup competitions. Having access to the defibrillator, wherever we are playing, brings real peace of mind. We are extremely grateful to our friends at McCarthy Stone for their generosity and support.”
Sam Watkins, Divisional Sales Director for McCarthy Stone, added: “It is an honour to fund this vital piece of equipment for Chelmsford City Walking Football Club. Although we hope that the defibrillator is never required, it is reassuring to know that it is there if needed in the event of an emergency.
“We pride ourselves on developing not only excellent developments but also close-knit communities, with not one but two developments in the area, we are proud to have built a relationship with Chelmsford City Walking Football Club and provide support for its members.”
