13 Feb Award winning Grand Trunk Road welcomes 2018 with new flavors
Within their first year of operation, South Woodford’s Grand Trunk Road became one of the culinary stars of 2017, with Head Chef Dayashankar Sharma at the helm creating stunning dishes enjoyed within an elegant, relaxed and always welcoming atmosphere.,
Inspired by the chronicled stretch of land built for traders in the 16th century, Grand Trunk Road’s menu is a culinary dedication to the evocative flavors of Indian history.
After gaining entry into the Good Food Guide within seven months of their launch, and accrued recognition from various industry heads, Chef Sharma continues to illustrate the restaurant’s ethos with the addition of new dishes designed to go further and more deliciously into the secrets of a forgotten culture.
With a strong focus on seasonal produce, Chef Sharma recreates dishes from the villages dotting the Grand Trunk Road by using cooking methods as close to tradition as possible. Sumptuous new items include Tandoor grilled squid, stuffed with fresh seafood, greens and sweet mango relish and Indian cottage cheese cooked in freshly creamed tomato with dry fenugreek, honey and topped with herb butter.
There is also a plethora of exquisite vegetarian dishes including Zucchini dumplings stuffed with paneer and brown onion as well as Baby okra cooked with pickling spices.
