Sasskia Roberts recently launched her policing career as one of 148 new officers on Police Now’s National Graduate Leadership Programme.

Born in Jamaica and raised in Birmingham, Sasskia was selected out of thousands of applicants and joins Essex Police via the programme, where she is determined to build on her existing leadership skills to become a role model in society. Sasskia brings a wealth of experience of working with young and vulnerable people to the service and is passionate about developing and implementing long-term support plans in the communities that need her the most.

She has been sharing her ongoing experience of Police Now’s academy and today reflects on her recent Officer Safety Training and Emergency Life Support training.

The National Graduate Leadership Programme begins with a seven-week training academy before officers are deployed into their respective police forces across the country for the remainder of the two-year programme, where they will work to cut crime and build public confidence in the police service as neighbourhood police officers. Participants also work towards their Graduate Diploma in Professional Policing Practice, in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University.
