Australia’s own Forest Claudette visits the UK in 2024 as they take to the stage of The Grace, London on Thursday 23rd May headlining Abbie McCarthy’s tastemaker night Good Karma Club. A truly exciting headline for the event, Claudette’s alternative R&B executes a sense of authenticity through provocative and thoughtful storytelling. This accomplished songwriting has earned Claudette two ARIA awards including Best Soul/R&B Release for their 2023 EP ‘Everything Was Green’. Following their appearance at SXSW 2024, Forest Claudette will also be joining the lineup at The Great Escape in Brighton on May 15th and 16th.
Growing up in the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria, Australia; Forest Claudette leaped into the music industry at a young age after spending years perfecting their craft in school. An impromptu interview and radio play on Australia’s Triple J, led Claudette to a record deal. This brought with it feelings of self-doubt and imposter syndrome that Claudette channelled beautifully into their music as a form of expression.
Their most recent single ‘Gold’ was released on March 22nd and is a powerfully soulful and moving piece that provides an exciting glimpse into what their upcoming EP ‘Jupiter’ may hold. “Gold is a song that was revealed to me sometime after I wrote it,” Claudette states. “I’m sure I was partly thinking about “success”. What it looks like and what sacrifices are made to obtain it – but in the context of Jupiter I see it so differently. Now the song is about growing, shedding skin, and evolving. Letting go of the fear I had of making this project. Paying respect to the weight I have been given, the burdens of life. And the sense that that feeling is invaluable.”
Forest Claudette’s new EP titled Jupiter will be released on Friday May 3rd. The EP is testament to the journey of self-discovery that Claudette has navigated as it explores gender identity, sexuality, the joy and sacrifice’s of coming out and juggling life’s complexities. Jupiter is a true reflection on the progress that Claudette has made to get to where they are now.
