The Institute of Directors branch in Essex Appoints First Female Chair

07 Aug The Institute of Directors branch in Essex Appoints First Female Chair

by Matthew Martino

The Institute of Directors (IoD) has announced that Christine Bhatt, chief executive officer of Systematics International, an independent data processing company, has been appointed Chair of their IoD Essex branch.

Bhatt led a management buyout of Systematics International in 2007 and since then the company has grown three fold. The company’s success has also been helped by Christine’s tendering for new contracts against large companies such as Microsoft to secure new business within the USA.

Since joining in 2006, the IoD has kept Christine up to date with unbiased information on various issues, and offered excellent support on various challenges that a small business faces. Working with an international client base, Christine has made use of the meeting facilities at Pall Mall, the online business support tools and attended networking in Essex and surrounding counties.

On being appointed the first female Chair of IoD Essex, Bhatt said; “The IoD is respected for encouraging women into leadership roles, in fact 60% of the senior managerial roles within the IoD are held by women.” Bhatt continues: “It is important for all Directors to guide their organisations through the turbulent times that we as a business community face, making implementation of sound business practices a must for all our organisations. We will face many challenges during the BREXIT negotiations and coming together as a business community will help develop our current and future requirements for the benefits of the industries that we work with.”
