Brokers to Take On ‘Three-day Brake’ Challenge for Local Charity

29 Apr Brokers to Take On ‘Three-day Brake’ Challenge for Local Charity

Three of the team at Ascend Broking in Chelmsford will be swapping life as award-winning brokers, for that of brakers, pedallers and maybe even wheelie-poppers, if they achieve their goal.

Scooping the UK title of Commercial Lines Broker of the Year, at the National Insurance Awards, has spurred three of the Ascend Broking team into even more strenuous attempts to give back to a great local cause. Furthermore, they have a total of £10,000 in their sights.

Stuart Belbin, Max Collins and Eddie Carter, have together decided to tackle the London to Paris, three-day cycle challenge, to raise money for local charity, Kids Inspire.

The challenge will require them to cycle 60 miles on day one, from London to Dieppe. On day two, they will cycle even further, taking on the 73-mile ride from Dieppe to Beauvais. Finally, on day three, they will head off for the 70-mile ride to Paris.

Given the distances involved, there will be very little time for any joie de vivre in La Belle France and aching limbs and bodies will probably see any spare time in the evening spent with the muscle rub, rather than the vin rouge. Despite this, all three are determined to take this mammoth challenge on.

Stuart, who brings specialist knowledge to Ascend Broking’s charity insurance division, has a long history of volunteering and working on community schemes. Max loves a charity challenge and is ready for any dare-devil activity that can raise money for others. Eddie does not even currently own a bike, but recognises how worthy the Kids Inspire cause is and is more than prepared to get pedalling and help the cash pour in.

Kids Inspire is a charity that provides mental health and trauma recovery support for children, young people and their families, through the provision of therapeutic and community activities that promote resilience, self-awareness and relationship building. Its work is focused on helping empower more positive life choices and the charity works to help young people escape a life of self-harm, mental pressures, abusive relationships, drug and alcohol abuse and social isolation.

“We’ve been privileged to be part of a team that has achieved great success within our insurance sector already this year but we recognise how lucky we are as individuals and just want to do something to help those who have not had the same system of support or start in life,” says Stuart Belbin.

“We know that £10,000 is a huge amount to raise, but equally appreciate all the good that money could do in the hands of Kids Alive,” says Max Collins.

“For me, it’s all about us showing our support for our local community and getting behind this great cause, which has really had a profound effect on me, when I’ve read about some of the amazing work that the charity does,” adds Eddie Carter.

The three Ascend Broking musketeers will be setting off for their bike journey on June 16. If you wish to help them raise the money they are targeting, please visit this page for details https://ascendbroking.co.uk/kids-inspire-london-to-paris/
