The community farm is entirely off-grid and installation of mains water is key to ensure the site can keep offering volunteer days, school trips and events.
Currently water for drinking, hand-washing and washing up is transported from volunteer’s homes for this purpose, but having mains water would enable the project to become more self-sufficient.
Throughout the year there are various events held at Herts & Essex Community Farm which are free or low-cost meaning they are accessible to the local community.
Events such as an Easter Egg hunt, Halloween fun day, Farm Fest and Santa’s grotto are held primarily aimed at bringing the community together. On-site taps and access to drinking water would enable more such events to take place and for a longer duration.
Currently the site hosts volunteer days three times a week open to all which would be more efficient if there was on-site drinking water, and for washing up.
Throughout the winter months the kettle is always on, and during the summer months fresh, cold water is a necessity after all the hard work the volunteers do in the blazing sunshine.
Voting closes on Monday June 17th so get voting for Herts & Essex Community Farm!
