YOUR KITCHEN CABINET’S BEST KEPT SECRET FOR HAY FEVER?

18 Jun YOUR KITCHEN CABINET’S BEST KEPT SECRET FOR HAY FEVER?

AS POLLEN counts soar across the UK and millions brace for the peak of hay fever season, a natural remedy is gaining traction among those seeking respite from relentless symptoms.

This week, the Met Office has issued a red ‘very high’ pollen warning for London and five other English regions on Monday 16 June and Tuesday 17 June, with ‘high’ levels in another four English regions.

Warnings for ‘medium’ levels were also issued for four regions in Scotland – leaving hay fever sufferers from the South East to the Highlands bracing for a wave of symptoms.

Hay fever, affecting an estimated 13 million people in the UK, can turn the joys of spring and summer into a season of sneezing, congestion, and itchy eyes. While pharmaceutical options are widely used, a growing number of individuals are exploring herbal alternatives, with relief lying right in your teacup.

Peppermint tea is rich in menthol, a powerful decongestant that helps to clear the sinuses, soothe inflamed airways, and restore easy breathing.

A leading tea expert has shared that whole leaf peppermint tea as a refreshing natural ally for those battling common allergy woes.

Annie Irwin, co-founder of leading ethical tea blender Suki Tea, says the whole leaf is best, as unlike crushed leaf blends, whole leaves are handled with care to preserve essential menthol oils, creating a sharp, aromatic cup with maximum purifying power.

Known for its cooling, refreshing taste and medicinal strength, peppermint has been used for centuries to treat everything from coughs and colds to allergies and asthma. Now, with hay fever season in full swing, a steaming cup of Suki’s peppermint blend could be your go-to natural remedy.

Annie Irwin, co-founder of Suki Tea, said:
“I’ve recently become a member of the Down Triathlon Club and the word is out that I’m the team’s go-to guru for herbal remedies!

“Hot peppermint tea has been filling our flasks, especially for those suffering with hay fever, and the results speak for themselves. It’s a simple, natural way to refresh the senses, clear congestion, and breathe a little easier.”

“We believe in creating tea with purpose, and when something as pure and flavourful as peppermint can offer such real relief, that’s something worth shouting about. Our organic leaves are sharp, fresh, and full of natural menthol oils. One sip and you’ll understand what we mean by ‘Big Leaf Flavour.’”

Peppermint tea acts as a decongestant by thinning mucus, making it easier to clear the nasal passages. The hot steam from a cup of tea can also help loosen stubborn mucus, providing a double benefit for those struggling with allergic rhinitis.

While pollen might still be in the air, so is the scent of sweet relief – and it smells like peppermint.

Suki’s Whole Peppermint Tea is available now via suki-tea.com and a network of independent cafes, restaurants, and major retailers across the UK and Ireland.
