13 Oct WILTSHIRE FARM FOODS LAUNCHES ‘WISHLIST FUND’ TO HELP YOUNG AT HEART BRITS LIVE THEIR DREAMS
Food delivery service Wiltshire Farm Foods is making over 55’s daredevil dreams come true with the unveiling of their Wishlist Fund, launched this week, in partnership with icon Dame Arlene Phillips.
The once-in-a-lifetime fund allows members of the public to nominate themselves or someone they know, stipulating why they should win the chance to tick off their bucket list wish – for free! From ballet in the ballroom to jiving in the jungle, daring Dame Arlene, aged 79 herself, will use her judging expertise to pick the top entries who will be rewarded to fulfil their wishes!
The fund comes after research revealed that mature Brits are more daring in the modern day. With 1 in 16 over 55s wanting to Mission Impossible style skydive, 1 in 25 to go cage diving with sharks and paragliding, and 1 in 30 to chase a tornado and go skinny dipping! The world of adventure is a grey (haired) area…
Unfortunately, it seems the golden years have become the olden years, with 72 per cent of over 55s believing there is a stereotype that mature Brits are less adventurous. And tragically, despite the majority (57 per cent) of over 55s feeling young at heart, 50 per cent are not confident they will ever achieve their life goals with money (43 per cent) and age (36 per cent) being factors preventing them from living out their dreams.
Here to transform the nation’s attitudes to silver surfers and keep the grandkids guessing, is daily frozen food delivery service, Wiltshire Farm Foods, alongside 84 per cent of over 55s who want to break the mould and dispel the stigma surrounding the twilight years!
The Wishlist Fund launches today via www.wiltshirefarmfoods.com/wishlist-fund and is open for 2 weeks, closing 25th October 2022. The older generation are being encouraged to tick off items from their bucket-list with this new opportunity, that some might have had on there for decades. Whether it’s climbing Ben Nevis, wing walking, going on a safari or reuniting with a long-lost friend – no activity is off the table.
Dame Arlene Phillips said: “There is so much to do and see and it’s about time we all got out there to do it – it’s about how you feel inside, not what your age dictates. Afterall, age is just a number! We’re seeing more and more mature adults going above and beyond to achieve the goals they want in life – from cage diving with sharks, to sky dives, and other crazy activities!
“I’d love to see more people live out their lifelong dreams in their mature years and embrace the freedom that older age brings, and that’s why I’m working with Wiltshire Farm Foods to launch the Wishlist Fund. Life is for living, so live it!”
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Farm Foods added: “It’s clear those over the age of 55 want to be just as active as the younger generation and are determined to complete as many life goals as possible before they reach their limit. But as research showed almost half the nation don’t feel confident they will fulfil their bucket list goals – be it because of money, time or confidence – we want to step in and get those lists ticked by facilitating the older generation’s most cherished desires!”
Wiltshire Farm Foods has long been the nation’s fairy godmother, ticking off bucket list activities large, small, from the hair raising to the heart warming, including reuniting lifelong friends who had lost touch, facilitating a cow milking experience, a helicopter flight and a family get-together following an isolating Covid lockdown.
One Wiltshire Farm Foods’ customer who is a true bold-age-adventurer is Mercy Baggs, 90, from Wiltshire, who has jumped out of a plane not once, but twice, and plans to do another once she hits 95! The former Met police officer has opted out of a quiet retirement for an action-packed era, as she refuses to let age dictate her life. Instead, raising money for charities through her daredevil stunts – next on her list is wing walking and zip lining over the Rocky Mountains in Canada!
