30 Apr Wickford Businessman Raises £400 for Cancer Research UK
MD of leading Wickford-based security specialists, VIP Security Services, has raised £400 for Cancer Research UK. Darren Hyde, 48, entered the boxing ring as part of Ultra White Collar Boxing’s (UWCB) campaign to raise £2 million for the cancer charity.
Darren has been a lifelong boxing enthusiast and was determined to raise as much money as possible. He says: “Cancer affects all of us in one shape or another. After a two-year fight, two weeks prior to the fight, I lost a very close friend of mine to the disease. After much deliberation I knew I had to do something and decided to continue the fight to help those affected by cancer.”
He continued: “I’m a great supporter of Cancer Research UK and wanted to help the charity in their work to find a cure from this terrible disease.”
Darren trained hard for his fight which took place at Unit 7 Nightclub, Festival Leisure Park, Basildon, Essex, on Saturday 13th April, and he won his fight on a unanimous points decision.
Ultra White Collar Boxing is billed as a unique opportunity for people with or without a boxing background to experience the sport in a safe and enjoyable environment. The event also aims to raise money for Cancer Research UK and enable people to get in great shape!
