WESTON HOMES MARKS NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP WEEK WITH A RECRUITMENT DRIVE FOR THEIR 2023 APPRENTICESHIP SCHEME

10 Feb WESTON HOMES MARKS NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP WEEK WITH A RECRUITMENT DRIVE FOR THEIR 2023 APPRENTICESHIP SCHEME

Weston Homes is pleased to announce that applications are open for their sought-after 2023 Apprenticeship Programme, with places for 15 new recruits. Career opportunities are available in multiple disciplines and the future recruits will start their career at the 2022 WhatHouse? Best Medium Housebuilder of the Year at its impressive headquarters in Takeley, Essex.

This year’s programme, which begins in September 2023, offers opportunities in sales, marketing, sustainability, planning and estimating amongst other disciplines and welcomes candidates from a wide variety of backgrounds and a range of skillsets.

The programme further expands the Weston Homes workforce and provides funded university or college education alongside on-the-job practical training. Their Apprenticeship Programme creates lifelong careers for individuals either leaving full time education or looking for a career change, with a structured development pathway across a five-year programme. All apprentices are partnered up with a mentor to help support their development and progression, helping share invaluable advice.

To mark National Apprenticeship Week (6-12th of February), Weston Homes is working closely with Haringey London Borough Council and schools local to its head office, to promote diverse careers in the construction industry and the benefits of their Apprenticeship Programme. The theme for this year’s National Apprenticeship Week, ‘Skills for Life’, very much echoes the Weston Homes ethos which seeks to not only build homes for life, but also to provide lifelong careers for employees, with opportunities for growth.

The 2023 recruitment drive is part of Weston Homes’ £2.5 million investment in training across a three-year period. The company plans to recruit similar numbers of trainees in 2024 in order to deliver the company’s £2.13 billion (GDV) development pipeline.

Abbie Simpson, Senior Land Manager at Weston Homes, commented: “I joined Weston Homes in 2015 as a Trainee Land Manager and within seven years I have gained a First-Class Honours Degree in Real Estate Management, become a Chartered Surveyor, and gained a wealth of experience, knowledge and friendship along the way.”

Bob Weston, Chairman and Managing Director of Weston Homes, says: “We are delighted to open the applications for this year’s Apprenticeship Programme. At Weston Homes we are passionate about helping young people onto their career ladder and investing in their futures through our Apprenticeship Programme.”

Bob Weston continues, “The Weston Homes Apprenticeship Programme allows us to employ people with real talent and potential at the beginning of their careers to encourage them forwards and to support our growth plans. We recently held the Weston Homes Careers Open Day which enabled people to meet us, learn more about our company, what a fantastic place it is to work, and the highly rewarding careers and benefits package we offer.”

Weston Homes has an enviable track record of employing and retaining talented people, offering a comprehensive list of employee benefits. These benefits include a company car or car allowance (dependant on role), pension with up to 10% employer contribution level, private health care, gymnasium access, subsidised staff restaurant and all-inclusive staff events. Employees can also benefit from enhanced maternity/paternity pay, retirement gratuity (10 years+ service), and receive vouchers to celebrate personal milestones.

Applications are now live and close on Sunday 12th February 2023 at midnight.
