WESHOP THE WORLD’S FIRST SHOPPABLE SOCIAL NETWORK OWNED BY ITS COMMUNITY ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH SOCCER AID FOR UNICEF

18 May WESHOP THE WORLD’S FIRST SHOPPABLE SOCIAL NETWORK OWNED BY ITS COMMUNITY ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH SOCCER AID FOR UNICEF

WeShop and Soccer Aid for UNICEF have today announced a major partnership.

The community platform, that allows people to shop for everyday goods and items whilst simultaneously owning a stake in the company, has joined Soccer Aid with UNICEF – the world’s biggest charity-celebrity football match.

This year’s game takes place on Sunday 11th June at Old Trafford, Manchester. The match will be broadcast live and exclusive on ITV and STV.

The partnership will see WeShop’s brand featured prominently across the team’s training centre used in the days before the game. On matchday the brand will also appear on both team coaches, the sleeves of both teams’ warm up jackets and on the Soccer Aid World XI FC match shirt sleeve.

In-stadium branding will include a presence on LED perimeter boards and the jumbo screen. In June, Soccer Aid will produce exciting, bespoke, WeShop content – featuring a range of Soccer Aid talent. Before then, the WeShop brand identity will be embedded on the sponsor end-boards of existing video content.

In 2022, WeShop launched a retail revolution by giving away shares in the company every time a person purchases goods through any of the retailers on the WeShop platform with retail partners including John Lewis, Selfridges, eBay, ASOS, Net a Porter, Booking.com, and over 500 more.

WeShop’s disruptive business model is purposely designed to share the wealth built up in the company with the shoppers who have created it. WeShop has now proudly announced a major UK partner and sponsorship programme with Soccer Aid.

The coming weeks will see a host of other star names announced – with neither team’s line-up yet complete. The England line-up so far: Stormzy, Harry Redknapp, Emma Hayes, Vicky McClure, David Seaman are all part of the England Management Team. Jill Scott (Captain), David James (Professional GK), Paddy McGuinness (Celebrity GK), Danny Dyer, Gary Neville, Gary Cahill, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes, Jack Wilshere, Jermain Defoe, Eni Aluko, Karen Carney, Scarlette Douglas, Alex Brooker, Chunkz, Tom Grennan, Sir Mo Farah, Bugzy Malone, Joel Corry and Liam Payne.
The Soccer Aid World XI FC line-up so far: Martin Compston and Robbie Keane are both part of the World XI Management Team, with more managerial signings to be announced. Usain Bolt (Captain), Ben Foster (Professional Goalkeeper), Leon Edwards (Celebrity Goalkeeper), Patrice Evra, Nani, Maisie Adam, Kaylyn Kyle, Heather O’Reilly, Mo Gilligan, Lee Mack, Steven Bartlett, Kem Cetinay, Noah Beck, Roberto Carlos, Gabriel Batistuta, Francesco Totti and Tommy Fury.

Since 2006 – when Robbie Williams co-founded the concept – Soccer Aid has raised over £75 million to help give children all over the world a childhood full of play.

WeShop Chairman, Richard Griffiths, said: “Soccer Aid was a natural choice for our first national advertising campaign to showcase WeShop and the benefits the platform brings to everyone. Our community all around the UK are looking forward to either being at the match or watching it live on ITV.”

Kenneth Shepherd, Executive Director, Soccer Aid Productions, said: “WeShop are an innovate market leader and we are delighted to welcome them to Soccer Aid for UNICEF. Everyone connected to the campaign is excited to see the WeShop brand across our digital output, training ground and in-stadium branding – including on the World XI kit. WeShop’s generosity helps us to raise vital funds for UNICEF and to increase global awareness of our event.”

The WeShop retail revolution is ground-breaking because it allows anyone to own shares, by simply buying goods that they would otherwise have bought from online retailers they already purchase from.

For every purchase, 10 per cent of the price is given back to you in WeShop shares. This means that if you were thinking of buying a pair of £100 trainers from Amazon you can buy the same £100 trainers through WeShop from one of the hundreds of established retailers on the platform, except you will be rewarded with £10 worth of shares in WeShop. Simply download the app on iOS or Android

WeShop aims to be 90% owned by its users, already has thousands of major brands on board allowing people to effectively shop from their own platform! WeShop is a first of its kind, community owned shoppable social network pioneering the implementation of true and fair share democratisation.

WeShop Chairman, Richard Griffiths, continued: “The way we shop has changed dramatically in the last ten years thanks to rapid advances in technology. While we’ve seen the dramatic growth of online shopping platforms – and their profits – none of them are designed to benefit the people who keep them going, the shoppers. That’s why WeShop was born, building a totally shoppable social network that is owned by the community. And to show we are serious, we’re aiming to give away 90% of WeShop to the people who use it.

“We think that the potential of WeShop is gigantic and will have a massive impact on the world of ecommerce. Imagine if Amazon had done this when they started, the wealth created by Amazon would have been shared amongst the people who made it successful, its users. Indeed, the world might look very different now, and that’s what we’re trying to achieve, a better, fairer and more democratised shopping experience for everyone.”

Tickets for the game are on sale now via www.socceraid.org.uk/tickets with a family of four able to attend for just £60 – two adults and two children.
