Wanted: FAME-SEEKING FELINE FOR FESTIVE FILMING

As the distant sound of Christmas jingles and cheer edges closer and closer, Asda is set to make one
cat (and its owner’s) festive dreams come true. This year, the supermarket’s Christmas ad will see
the addition of one extra special titular character – ‘Mr Grumbles’ – a role which will see one lucky
feline catapulted to Christmas stardom.

Awarded to the cat whose personality prowess ranges from grumpy and sullen to jubilant and joyous
with the snap of a finger (and maybe a treat), the role will see the chosen cat taking part in what is
set to be Asda’s most magical Christmas ad yet.

Eilidh Macaskill, Vice President of Creative and Media at Asda, comments: “We want to make this
Christmas the most extra special Christmas yet, so we’re pulling-out all stops to ensure we bring a
little magic to screens, with the help of Mr Grumbles.”

Whether a short, ginger-furred kitten, or a raggedy ragdoll, the role of Mr Grumbles is open to cats
of all shapes and sizes. The ad director will then select Mr Grumbles from hundreds of headshots,
taken from a casting-call for Yorkshire-based cat models, and those submitted by members of the
public through social media, selecting the feline who brings to life the essence of Mr Grumbles.

Filming for Asda’s 2019 Christmas ad will begin in mid-September.
