Make this Easter egg-stra special, as Down Hall prepares to be joined by a whole host of animals – fluffy and otherwise – during a weekend packed with activities to keep the family entertained. From a pop-up petting zoo in the hotel’s 110 stunning acres of grounds, to an indulgent Easter lunch and luxury chocolate afternoon tea, Down Hall is the perfect getaway with the little ones in tow.
Petting Zoo Weekend
Bringing animals to guests this Easter, Down Hall is playing host to its very own petting zoo. Over the Easter holidays, families will be able to get up close with a variety of friendly, farmyard animals from Basil & Crew Mobile Farm. Kids are encouraged to take part in feeding, handling, grooming and even walking Basil the donkey and his crew of furry and feathered friends – including Shetland ponies, donkeys, sheep and lambs.
For those who are feeling extra brave, a reptile and animal enclosure will also be on the grounds, courtesy of Zoo 4 You – meet Clive the Crested Gecko, Rick the Royal Python, Mika the Meerkat and Valentine the Eclectus Parrot, amongst others. Together with plenty of time to roam the grounds, there will be additional children’s activities such as a DJ Academy, magic and circus skills*.
Family Fun Stays available on 7th or 14th April, from £199 based on two adults and two children sharing a West Wing Studio Room. Includes £30 allowance per adult in the Dining Room and three courses from the Children’s menu per child, reptile & animal encounter with Zoo4You, children’s activities, and breakfast the following morning.
*Additional children’s activities also available to non-hotel guests, from 3pm to 6pm, for £15 per child.
Easter Lunch & Petting Zoo
Tuck into a three-course lunch in The Grill Room on Easter Sunday or Monday. Flooded with natural daylight, The Grill Room is a stunning spot to enjoy seasonal British food featuring locally sourced ingredients and vegetables from the hotel’s kitchen garden.
Available on 21st April from 1pm to 5pm and 22nd April from 12pm to 4pm. £23.50 per person for two courses and £30 for three courses, including petting zoo and Easter Egg per child.
Chocolate Afternoon Tea & Petting Zoo
Served in the elegant lounge or Ibbetson’s Tea Lounge, Down Hall’s chocolate-themed afternoon tea is a sweet treat not to be missed. Children are invited to pet the animals beforehand and will take home an Easter egg.
Available on 21st and 22nd April, for £30 per adult and £15 per child under 12, including petting zoo.
Alternatively, book the Zoo Break Escape to combine a stay at the hotel with watching the big cats, monkeys and birds of paradise strut their stuff, and discover all about dinosaurs at Paradise Wildlife Park, a short 45-minute drive from the hotel, followed by dinner back at Down Hall (from £199 for a family of four).
