16 Jun Upshire Primary School receive life changing donation
A potentially life-saving device has been donated to a school to reduce the chance of fatal cardiac arrests.
A defibrillator, which delivers a high energy electric shock to the patient’s heart, has been given to Upshire Primary School in Upshire Road by local business Roof-Link.
Head teacher Jackie Blackburn said: “Following first aid training earlier this year, a demonstration showed us how easy these machines are to use.
“We are grateful to Roof-Link for ensuring that we are now able to deal with specific medical emergencies as effectively as possible.”
Some staff have been trained how to use the new device, and it has clear step-by-step instructions so it can be used by anyone.
It will also be made available to people close to the school if needed.
Michael Hockley of Roof-Link, based in Eastbrook Road, Waltham Abbey, said: “We feel that it is important to support our local community.
“It’s our pleasure to have been able to provide Upshire School with such a vital piece of equipment and we would like to see more of these units available throughout the area.”
