22 May Thurrock’s Conservative Candidate Welcomes More Money For Schools Pledge
Conservative Candidate Jackie Doyle-Price has welcomed the pledge in the Conservative manifesto to spend an additional £4bn on the nation’s schools taking the overall budget to £45bn. The pledge means that no schools will face cuts and Thurrock’s schools will get more cash.
Jackie said, “The Labour Party have been publishing false claims about school funding. There are no cuts. None. Zilch. The truth is that schools in Thurrock get less than schools elsewhere and we are going to fix that.
And we are going to fix it without cutting any school budget. We will finally end the unfairness which sees children in Southend having more money spent on their education than children in Thurrock. Any suggestion that any school in Thurrock will face cuts is completely false.”
This comes after Conservative campaigners joined Jackie Doyle-Price on her campaign battlebus for a busy day’s campaigning.
Taking the microphone was Culture Minister Matt Hancock who by day is responsible for broadband, media and the creative industries.
