Thurrock MP Jackie Doyle-Price has written to the Leader of Thurrock Council to ask it to compile evidence on air quality and traffic congestion to support the fight against the proposed Lower Thames Crossing.

Jackie said, “I requested this from the last leader of Thurrock council back in 2013. Sadly that request was rejected. It is disappointing that the council did not do more then to provide hard evidence against the proposed route. This was a missed opportunity which makes the fight more difficult now.

“I don’t have highways engineers or environmental health officers working for me. It is a dereliction of duty that Thurrock Council has not used the resources it has to fight this more effectively. Now the council is under Conservative leadership I am confident that it will do what is right, not what is politically convenient.”

In 2013 the Leader of Thurrock Council refused Jackie’s request for analysis of the impact on air quality report and traffic congestion of the proposed LTC. He claimed it was not the job of the council
