As Santa enters our skies for the ‘jolliest hols’ of the year, preparations for the FREE fun festivities are in full swing! Join The Royals as they countdown to Christmas in what promises to the their most exciting event yet!

Delight in the magic of Christmas with an array of activities from competitions, sing a longs, surprise visitors and of course, the sparkling selection of shops for that perfect gift!

The yuletide celebrations begin on Friday 8th November, as the Royals Reindeer returns to the centre bringing with him a wealth of Christmas treats for Christmas 2019!

A highlight of The Royals Christmas Calendar is Festive Fun Day Saturday 16th November! As part of Southend’s annual Christmas lights BIG Switch On, there will be a whole host of free, family-focused activities at the shopping centre. Treat your little elves to fun, games, arts and crafts, singing and face painting between 11am-4pm – the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit!
The Royals very own magnificent king of Christmas cheer, the magical Snow Lion, will be available for hugs, high-fives and selfies to make the day all the more memorable and the Red Queen will be gracing us with her regal presence to bring a touch of enchantment to The Royals from 12pm-4pm

Just outside the centre, in Royals Square, the Visit Southend Stage is hosting a showcase of the very best local musical talent, with live music performed by up-and-coming bands, duos and solo performers from 13 – 8pm

Alternatively, if you have the music in you, why not let it out and demonstrate your own ivory-tinkling gifts by playing one of two beautifully decorated pianos installed outside Debenhams? Decorated by local artist John Bulley, our beautiful pianos make the perfect backdrop for your videos – and if you share your experiences – you never know who might be watching!

Festivities are not complete without traditional carol singing. A selection of local groups will be joining us to sing beautiful Christmas carols and encourage you to participate in a festive sing-a-long!
Of course, as it is nearly Christmas and a time of community and goodwill to all fellow man, we’ll be spreading a little early festive cheer courtesy of our Royal Footmen. Look out for the distinctive footman as he goes about The Royals offering random acts of kindness throughout the day, bringing smiles to faces and a warm glow the the hearts of our shoppers.

Just one word of advice however. With all this amazing free fun, top-drawer entertainment and essential present-buying in over thirty stores inside The Royals, don’t forget the Big Switch On! An incredible lighting display illuminating the whole of Southend’s High Street followed by live music and colourful firework displays from 7.30.
