Lovers of food and drink can enjoy a free afternoon tea at the Wivenhoe House Hotel, or a wine tasting experience at Saffron Grange vineyard, near Saffron Walden. If you’re looking to get the adrenalin pumping learn the art of kayaking at Clacton Kayaks at Dovercourt Boating Lake. There’s also crazy golf, foot golf and fishing on offer at Waldegraves Holiday Park, Mersea, as well as tickets to Colchester Zoo, Essex Cricket, Southend Pier and Colchester’s Mercury Theatre, and Rollerworld, there really is so much to see and do!
Cllr Mark Durham, Chair, Visit Essex, said: “Essex has a lot to offer from historic buildings and beautiful gardens to great places to stay, eat and drink, as well as fun family attractions.”
“This year’s big weekend really is bigger than before, and we would urge residents to seize the opportunity to browse the Essex Bigger Weekend website and apply for tickets. It’s a great time to try somewhere new, or treat yourself to an evening at the theatre, stroll around a vineyard, or go glamping!”
