06 Mar Tesco Harlow employee hails apprenticeships
With Tesco’s recent announcement to expand its apprenticeships programme, some 2,500 apprenticeships are available to existing colleagues this year. A Harlow employee of the supermarket giant spoke to us about her experience.
Tesco colleague Joy Glover said “A few years ago, the idea of doing an apprenticeship wouldn’t have even crossed my mind. When you get to my age, you think the opportunity to go back into education and learn something new has gone, but then I found out about the scheme with Tesco.”
Apprenticeships give you an experience in the working world and show employers that you can ‘hit the ground running’.
Continuing to share her story Joy said “When I brought my certificate home, my kids were so proud of me. I’d been taken out for a meal and even had to get up on stage to collect it. It was really nerve wracking, but felt like such an accomplishment.”
Following Joy’s feel good experience, the opportunities available for apprentices are loud and clear.
Hands-on training gives you a real chance to put your skills into practice and helps you to gain more confidence in a working environment, whats better you get to earn while you learn.
