09 Mar Tell mum you love her face-to-face this Mother’s Day
This Mother’s day will be particularly memorable for Max Halton from Hockley and his mother Shelley, as they are appearing in a film that has so far received over 1 million views and over 500 shares on Facebook.
Commissioned by PizzaExpress, this emotive film shows kids reading out last year’s Mother’s Day messages and Max and his mother play a starring role.

Timothy Love, the PizzaExpress’ Senior Marketing Manager, explained the thinking behind the film: “This Mother’s Day we wanted to encourage people to really show mum how much she means to them. We don’t spend enough time sharing the things we enjoy with our loved ones and we rarely take the time to tell mum face-to-face just how special she is. Our film will hopefully inspire people to make this a very special Mother’s Day and what better way to celebrate, than over a pizza?”
Speaking about his experience, Max explains “It was brilliant, really exciting being in on a secret you couldn’t tell anyone and even more exciting to see mum’s reaction. I think it’s important to speak to mums face-to-face as online messages can often feel forced or superficial. I got such a good reaction on the day that I’d say me and mum are closer, but she’s probably more suspicious of me, and will perhaps be on guard next time I take her out for a meal!”
This comes on the back of a study of 2,000 adults by PizzaExpress* which found that doting sons and daughters will say ‘I love you’ to their mum 12 times a month.
