20 Jun Teacher of the year nomination for Southend consultant @SouthendNHS
Miss Nidhi Tripathi, a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Southend University Hospital, has been praised by her students resulting in her being recommended as Teacher of the Year.
It’s made all the more prestigious as the recommendation comes from Year 4 Students at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry which is where the lectures are based.
Miss Tripathi, who has worked at Southend University Hospital for over 13 years, lectures on management of menopause, management of labour and its complications, and laws related to abortion and the procedure.
As well as Miss Tripathi’s lectures, the students from Bart’s rotate with Southend Hospital each year for clinical experience and learning.
GP trainee, Saipriya Pravin, said: “With no obs and gynae background, I was initially unsure and anxious about my rotation but I thank Miss Tripathi for her wonderful support. She prepped me on my first theatre day and provided teaching in between cases. Never in my rotations have I come across such a warm and supportive consultant.”
Miss Tripathi said: “I am flattered to receive this testimonial and it shows how Southend continues to play such an important part in the training of the next generation of GPs, doctors and nursing staff. Southend prides itself in its teaching and learning, both internally for existing staff and for those visiting on rotation.”
