19 Jun Taylor Wimpey inspires sustainability awareness among Great Bentley pupils
Taylor Wimpey gave Great Bentley youngsters an inspirational insight into the importance of sustainability during an activity session earlier this term.
Members of the housebuilder’s land, production and sales teams visited Great Bentley Primary School to speak to children about environmentally friendly practices in construction and the wider world.
The team handed out activity packs containing a range of facts and games designed to inspire the pupils to work towards a more sustainable future. Among the topics covered were waste reduction, energy conservation and the numerous benefits of sustainable building practices.
Pupils also got to build and decorate their own bug hotel to help attract insects to their gardens.
Taylor Wimpey is building new homes in Great Bentley, at the Hartford Green development on Weeley Road. The development includes a range of sustainable technologies such as solar panels to each home and the infrastructure for electric vehicle charging on, or close to, each home.
Hannah Upston, a teacher at Great Bentley Primary School, said: “We are immensely grateful to Taylor Wimpey for hosting the thought-provoking talk and providing the activity packs, which were great fun. We firmly believe in the importance of nurturing environmentally conscious citizens who understand the significance of safeguarding our planet.”
“Our children learned a lot from the session and have already begun using their knowledge in the local community through our Order of Great Bentley Environment (OBE) project where the children are working alongside the parish council to raise the profile of local environmental issues.”
