Taylor Wimpey helps bring carnival atmosphere to Great Bentley green

04 Aug Taylor Wimpey helps bring carnival atmosphere to Great Bentley green

Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey helped Great Bentley residents put on a summer celebration for their community by donating £850 to fund the refreshment tent at this year’s village carnival.

A team of volunteers organise the event on the village green each June, aiming to bring the community together and raise money for local youth groups.

Taylor Wimpey has recently launched a new development in the village, Hartford Green, and the local team offered to pay for the marquees and tables of the refreshments tent at this year’s event, which took place on 24th June.

The donation meant that more money could be donated to youth organisations around the village. In total the carnival raised £3,126.

Julie Wall, Chairperson of the Great Bentley Carnival and Fete Association, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to Taylor Wimpey for their generous donation. We split any profits from our annual event between our beneficiaries, who are local children’s groups, and in the current financial climate any extra income is much appreciated. Without these generous donations from local companies the amount of profit from our annual event would be reduced.”

Michael O’Leary, Regional Operations and Sales Director for Taylor Wimpey London, said: “We’ve only been in Great Bentley for a short time, but it’s quickly become clear that the community here is very strong. We’re supporting a number of events this year and the carnival was the first, so we’re delighted that the event went so well.

“We know that our customers are moving to Great Bentley to be part of this close-knit community and we look forward to seeing them become part of village life.”
