Taylor Wimpey help Southend family buy their first home

28 Feb Taylor Wimpey help Southend family buy their first home

A Southend couple have found the perfect solution to home working and family life thanks to Taylor Wimpey.

First time buyers Michelle and Ivan Buck and their daughter Taylor moved into their new Taylor Wimpey home at Waters Edge, in Great Wakering, last year.

The couple were after some extra space for their growing family and had both been working from home, as had Taylor, during the Covid-19 pandemic. Their choice of the four-bed Marshall housetype gave them exactly what they needed, and they have even been able to create their own separate ‘his and hers’ offices to keep work and family time completely separate.

Michelle said: “We reserved a Marshall as soon as we could, because we love the style of the house. It’s beautiful, spacious, modern and homely – perfect for our family. Also, with today’s climate meaning we work from home often, it is a fantastic bonus that we are able to have an office upstairs in one of the bedrooms as well as the original one downstairs. We’re spoiled with one each now and loving the freedom of not having to share.

“We were also hugely surprised by the very generous proportions of our garden and we chose the plot because it is very private and has space around it. The price was fabulous for the amount of house and land we have.”

Thanks to the Government-backed Help to Buy equity loan scheme, the Bucks were able to secure their home with just a 5% deposit.

Michelle said: “We were renting prior to buying and didn’t think we would be able to afford such a lovely home. However, we were able to make use of the Help To Buy scheme to maximise our mortgage and now we have the security of our own home at last.”

The couple were delighted with their buying experience with the Taylor Wimpey sales and site teams and the service they provided.

Michelle said: “We waited longer than we anticipated to get into our new home, due to the unforeseen circumstances of the pandemic, but we were well informed and cared for all the way through the process.

“We are very happy with the customer service we received. We were impressed with Vanessa, who was very patient with a lot of buyers, frustrated by the pandemic. The site team has also been excellent whilst building around us. We can’t believe how fast they work and how quickly the remainder of the site is taking shape, new things noticed all the time.”

One of the Buck family’s favourite features of the development are the peaceful, open spaces. Michelle said: “We have always been local to this area and so knew the development would be nice, but it is quieter than we expected, making the garden very pleasant. There are fields and lakes nearby, close enough to walk our dog easily. Our daughter also likes to walk for miles and is enjoying Wakering Common and other rural walks around here.”
