14 Jun Support artists STORRY, Tamzene and Germein announced for Tom Jones’ outdoor concert in Essex
Heritage Live are delighted to announce that STORRY, Tamzene and Germein will perform as support to Tom Jones at English Heritage’s Audley End House & Gardens in Saffron Walden, Essex, on Sunday August 6th.
Canadian singer-songwriter and visual artist Storry is a 2x Juno nominated artist and opera trainee. Her debut album Chapter III: The Come Up, was nominated for a Juno award for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year, alongside the likes of Celine Dion and Alanis Morrisette.
Also taking to the stage will be Scottish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tamzene. Her unique mix of Jamaican and Irish heritage have encouraged a style that blends her soul, folk and jazz influences together. Tamzene’s debut EP Details takes on topics from family, love and long-distance relationships to questions about race and identity in a social media age.
Kicking things off will be Australian pop collective, Germein, consisting of three siblings, Georgia (lead vocals/guitar), Ella (bass/cello) and Clara Germein (percussion/back vocals). Having toured Europe, Australia, New Zealand and China, the Germein sisters have won Most Popular Pop Artists in the South Australian Music Awards, twice.
Iconic legend, Tom Jones will return to headline the event after demand in 2022 could have seen the concert sold out several times over, with the Saffron Walden Reporter commenting on the show ‘…he’s still got that powerful voice with a set spanning more than six decades of hits.’
On the show, Heritage Live Organiser Giles Cooper said:
“Last year’s show by Tom Jones at Audley End was so special for everyone in attendance. To be able to have him perform once again as part of our concert series for 2023 is truly wonderful. Audley is such a spectacular setting for live music, and 2023 is shaping up to be the best year of shows there yet.”
With a diverse career spanning over 60 years, Tom Jones has gone from strength to strength, with his seminal and ubiquitous hits such as ‘It’s Not Unusual’, ‘Kiss’, ‘Delilah’, ‘What’s New Pussycat’, ‘I’ll Never Fall In Love Again’, ‘Sex Bomb’, and more.
Along with sustaining his popularity as a live performer and recording artist for more than six decades, he continues to garner critical acclaim, including with the release of his most recent album, ‘Surrounded By Time’. The album made him the oldest male to claim a number 1 spot on the UK Official Album Chart with an album of new material, overtaking Bob Dylan.
It is the most recent high point in a career full of highlights, including a deeply cherished knighthood from Her Majesty the Queen in 2006. Other highlights of his long career include receiving multiple BRIT Awards, a Silver Clef Award for Lifetime Achievement, the Hitmaker Award from the [US] Songwriters Hall of Fame, GQ Man Of The Year, and the prestigious [UK] Music Industry Trusts Award.
His legacy will undoubtedly live on for generations to come.
Tom Jones will bring his irresistible live show to Audley End once again in 2023, featuring a musical mix that traverses eras and genres.
