Summer of festivals continues with FREE Roundhouse Music Festival @lbbdcouncil

16 Aug Summer of festivals continues with FREE Roundhouse Music Festival @lbbdcouncil

The hugely popular Summer of festivals is set to ‘rock’ this Bank Holiday Monday with the free Roundhouse Music Festival in Central Park, Dagenham.

This east London event is promising a great cockney knees up with headline act Chas and Dave, and a ‘rockin’ good time with a number of tribute acts celebrating the rich musical history of the borough’s iconic Roundhouse pub, which has played host to some of the world’s most iconic rock bands.

Tribute bands this year include Genesis, Elton John and T.Rex, and the event will also host the final of the Roundhouse Battle of the Bands competition, which had a highly energetic and crowd-pleasing semi-final that saw Into Horizon, Colina Pearl and local band The Unknown make it through to the final.

Councillor Saima Ashraf, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Community Leadership and Engagement, said: “The Summer of festivals has been a wonderful collection of events so far this year which thousands of people have enjoyed and I am sure the Roundhouse Music Festival will not disappoint.

“This fun-filled family day out is sure to get the crowd singing along, and I’d particularly like to wish the Battle of the Bands finalists good luck, especially The Unknown who are the youngest contestants and all attend Sydney Russell School.”

In addition to the stage and the musical elements of the event there is also lots of family fun to be had including inflatables, funfair rides, and facepainting.

Adults can also enjoy inflatable fun with the much loved ‘rodeo bull’ making an appearance as well as ‘last man standing’.

The event also includes a fully-stocked bar and a number of caterers including fish and chips, stir-fry, burgers and ice cream vendors.

Roundhouse Music Festival takes place on Bank Holiday Monday 29 August between 12noon and 9pm.  For more information visit www.lbbd.gov.uk/roundhouse
