22 Nov Successful Storytelling Festival Returns to the Food Museum
The East Anglian Storytelling Festival delighted audiences this August with a magical mix of family-friendly storytelling, spoken word and music, all set against the picturesque backdrop of the Food Museum in Stowmarket,
So successful was the partnership between the Museum and Festival that they have got together and agreed to hold another great weekend next year – May 12th – 14th 2023.
Marie Taylor, Events Manager, Food Museum said “This festival is a sign of a great partnership which engaged a completely new audience to the Food Museum, from locals and those from much further afield in the UK. The event enhanced our own tradition of telling stories from our past and about our future. The museums’ fascinating buildings and many wonderful natural spaces helped to create a very special experience that helped to fire our visitors and storytellers’ imaginations. We are proud to be now the permanent home for the festival and support growing this event for a wider community to get involved with for years to come.”
Next year’s headline artists include Norfolk based Hugh Lupton, plus Sally Pomme Clayton and Ben Haggarty and there will also be a call-out for local tellers to join the fun. If you want to experience some storytelling before then, tellers from the festival will be sharing some seasonal stories, alongside all the other festive treats at the Food Museum’s Christmas Festival on Sunday 27th November. For more on what’s on at the museum see https://foodmuseum.org.uk
Marion Leeper, Festival Director said “We are so pleased to be invited back again. We are all looking forward to working with Museum team again next year and making it an even better festival. Our audience members commented on how friendly the festival was and how lovely it was to be able to explore such a beautiful site as well.”
