11 May Stephen Metcalfe MP Welcomes the Queen’s Speech
Stephen Metcalfe, MP for South Basildon & East Thurrock, welcomes the levelling up agenda set out in the Queen’s Speech.
For the first time Prince Charles stood in for the Queen at the state opening of Parliament, where the Government’s plan for the next parliamentary session was set out.
The Government will do more to address the cost-of-living challenges and put in place measures to ensure that we grow our economy to help combat the rise in inflation.
We will scrap further EU red tape, which is still holding us back, this in turn will help create high paid and high skilled jobs.
In addition, we will implement legislation to support business and open up Government contracts to small businesses, which will assist in regenerating our town centres’ in Thurrock and Basildon.
Stephen Metcalfe said: “I would like to extend my well wishes to the Queen and I am looking forward to celebrating her jubilee year.
Following the local election results in Basildon and Thurrock it is excellent to see a Queen’s Speech which will assist local people in upskilling as we level up.
These results shows that our local councils are getting on with the job and the Queen’s speech highlights that the economy is in safe hands with the Conservatives”.
