23 Nov Stephen Metcalfe MP visits new Jobcentre Plus building in Basildon
Stephen Metcalfe, MP for South Basildon & East Thurrock, last week visited the new Jobcentre Plus building in Church Walk House, Basildon.
Last week Stephen visited the new Jobcentre Plus building in Church Walk House, Basildon. He met with Dave Cope, the JCP Essex Service Leader, and Jo Reilly, the manager of the new Basildon site.
During Stephen’s visit he viewed the operation of the new building and discussed how staff have adapted to working during the coronavirus pandemic. Hearing about the difficulties staff had faced he expressed his thanks for all the efforts that had been made to deliver a first class service to the community.
Stephen found out about job vacancies, jobs fairs with employers and new initiatives that have been rolled out to help people fill available vacancies. Training, upskilling and filling gaps in the market were also discussed at length.
Stephen Metcalfe said: “I was delighted to visit the new Jobcentre Plus building in Basildon and learn about training, upskilling and gaps in the market.
During my visit I was also able to speak to staff and hear how they have adapted to working during the pandemic and the difficulties they faced. I again express my thanks to those staff whose efforts have allowed vital resources to remain in place to support the local community, both during and after the pandemic.”
