31 Jan Stephen Metcalfe MP highlights employment opportunities at local jobs fair
Stephen Metcalfe, MP for South Basildon & East Thurrock, was invited to attend a jobs fair at Basildon’s Church Walk Jobcentre on Friday 27 January that highlighted local employment opportunities and connected jobseekers with local employers and providers.
In May 2021, Basildon’s new Jobcentre opened in Church Walk House, equipped with a team of work coaches to help people find the right jobs, write the best applications, acquire the best skills and connect jobseekers with local employers.
Last week, Kim Rollison, Employment and Partnership Manager at Basildon and Canvey Jobcentres, invited Stephen to attend a jobs fair at the Church Walk Jobcentre where over 50 local employers and providers gathered to offer more information on their job openings. There are current vacancies for drivers at local schools, maintenance and healthcare workers in the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, staff at Essex County Council and Royal Navy recruits, as well as many other opportunities.
If you are looking for a job, please take time to visit the Church Walk Jobcentre at Church Walk House, Great Oaks, Basildon, Essex, SS14 1GJ. Alternatively, have a look at the Twitter feed of Jobcentre Plus in Essex @JCPinEssex or https://twitter.com/jcpinessex

Stephen Metcalfe said: “I was very pleased to attend Church Walk Jobcentre’s jobs fair – there are a lot of opportunities out there to get back on the job ladder and a lot of helpful people at the Jobcentre to guide jobseekers through the process.
It was great to see around 50 local employers and providers engaging with jobseekers, all seeking new staff to fill their vacancies – Mid and South Essex NHS, East of England Ambulance Service, South Essex College, Essex County Council, Royal Navy, Arriva, Lidl, and Halls of Ivy Hair and Beauty to name but a few!
I want to thank the Jobcentre team for all their efforts. I know that, with their help, everyone can find their place in the job market.”
