Staff from Essex firm have raised £11,600 for the Help for Heroes

02 Aug Staff from Essex firm have raised £11,600 for the Help for Heroes

Staff from Essex-based windows and doors company Exterior Plas have raised  £11,600 for the Help for Heroes charity after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, earlier this year.

Exterior Plas, who are a REHAU Authorised Partner put together a team of six willing volunteers to undertake the challenge of a lifetime to climb the world’s highest freestanding mountain in April 2017.

The team included Managing Director Andy Sheen, who generously doubled the funds raised by Exterior Plas, and presented Help for Heroes with a cheque for £11,600 at a special ‘Afternoon Tea and Bubbles’ event held on 26 May 2017 at the company’s headquarters in Thornwood, Essex.

Andy Sheen said: “We wanted to set ourselves a challenge, and while doing so, raise awareness and funds for the remarkable charity, Help for Heroes. Climbing Kilimanjaro has always been on my ‘bucket list’, and when I started discussing challenges and aspirations with the team, it became clear that there were a few of us with similar interests. Within weeks, we were booked up and ready to go!”

The Afternoon Tea and Bubbles event was attended by Exterior Plas colleagues, clients, suppliers, family members and a representative of Help For Heroes, who presented medals to the six who completed the trekking challenge and gave a talk about how the money raised would be used to help injured servicemen and woman.
