04 Nov St Mary’s Eco Art Competition launched
An Eco Art Competition for school age children has been launched by St Mary’s Colchester. The challenge set by St Mary’s Senior School’s Art Department and Eco Team is to create a piece of artwork using recyclable materials or with an eco message. These pieces can be in any format but should be sent digitally to [email protected] by 14 November to be in with a chance of winning a prize!
Mrs Sarah Wilding, St Mary’s Eco-Schools Co-ordinator said “As one of only five schools in the UK to achieve national Eco-Schools Ambassador status, St Mary’s is passionate about eco initiatives. Our Senior School’s talented Art Department and enthusiastic, student-led Eco Team have already received a number of fantastic entries and are keen to encourage school age children to get creative whilst raising awareness of the importance of sustaining our environment. Wishing everyone the best of luck with their entries!”
Winners of the competition will be announced during St Mary’s Eco Week, 21-25 November.
Following on from the success of previous Food and Craft Fairs, St Mary’s Eco Team are also organising a Christmas Food and Craft Fair on Saturday 26 November at the Senior School on Lexden Road in Colchester, from 10am to 2pm. At this free event, there will be over 30 stalls for visitors to browse, providing an excellent opportunity for locally sourced festive gift shopping.
